The MaWood Home system
The MaWood Home system is a solid construction system consisting mainly of timber and clay. Our principle is: healthy building means healthy living!
We therefore use only high-quality products for your MaWood-Home® that meet our demanding economic and ecological standards.
Stable construction and high-quality materials make MaWood-Home® a property that retains its value and provides a home for generations. The KfW40-compliant system keeps heating and energy costs low over the long term. A MaWood-Home® is thus a worthwhile investment that reduces ongoing costs and promotes sustainability.
Natural materials in the MaWood Home system
We use almost exclusively natural products made from timber, hemp, clay and straw. We avoid concrete and gypsum unless essential in an individual case, for example for a foundation.
For solid timber walls, we use Weinberger’s Bilamforte logs with an upright timber core integrated into the section. Their finished profile greatly simplifies cutting and fitting, allowing cost-effective production of high quality. At a standard thickness of 12 cm, the individual beams are easy to carry, making wall installation straightforward and safe.
On request, the inner face of external walls or entire internal walls can use different timber species. Options include:
- Spruce/spruce
- Pine/pine
- Spruce/larch
- Pine/thermally modified pine
Triple bonding provides high dimensional stability, preventing individual beams from twisting while retaining the vapour permeability of a conventional solid log. The adhesive is 100% formaldehyde-free and solvent-free.
This innovative technology lets us avoid complex, costly structures such as sliding timbers around doors and windows or threaded rods through full wall heights. It also speeds up processing and assembly.
Foundations
Concrete is not always necessary. Producing around 2.8 gigatonnes of CO₂ annually, the cement industry is a major source of human-made emissions. Versatile screw foundations offer an ecological alternative to a conventional concrete slab and also allow level, accessible construction.
To make MaWood-Home® as ecological as possible, we recommend considering screw foundations with a solid stacked-timber floor. Feasibility can only be confirmed after structural calculations and a ground investigation report; our experience is positive in around 90% of cases. Screw foundations cannot replace conventional concrete for a basement. Basements are expensive, however, and modern compact technology such as air-source heat pumps can make enlarging the ground floor instead of building a basement worthwhile.
Insulation
The standard MaWood-Home® qualifies for KfW40 funding, making the right insulation essential. To meet our ecological standards, we use only hemp and soft wood-fibre insulation, with the latter produced exclusively by the wet process. We mainly use Steico products for their high quality. This allows us to work within a coordinated system and meet the relevant approvals and requirements.
Façades
The wall construction gives complete freedom in façade design.
Our standard option is a ventilated façade with Dufter timber cladding. Integrated corner joints with the traditional Tyrolean dovetail appearance retain the character of a log home, even with the insulated wall thickness needed for funding eligibility.
Wood-fibre boards suitable as render carriers also allow the combination often seen in the Allgäu: rendered ground floor and timber-clad upper floor, with the same wall quality.

A system for everyone
MaWood-Home® was developed in three versions with different features, allowing clients to realise their dream home in the way they choose.
Self-build kit
We supply a kit to plan that clients can assemble with four to six helping hands and some know-how. For an agreed period, one of our carpenters can act as an assembly supervisor, demonstrating the system and installation step by step.
Professional package
This package is a shell home erected by us or a partner company. Clients receive a fully enclosed shell including windows, doors and roof covering, excluding roof sheet-metal work.
A basement or concrete slab must be arranged by the client beforehand. We can commission and coordinate screw foundations across Germany (Bavaria-wide).
Carefree package
We take care of all construction tasks and coordinate all finishing trades. Turn the key and move in. Available only within 80 km of Augsburg.
Package contents
All packages naturally include the materials for the enclosed shell or the log construction kit.
